Carperby
Carperby village is less than a mile north of Aysgarth Falls and is a fine example of a typical Dales linear village.
While no specific sketches of the village were made by Turner, the artist would have passed through here in July 1816 when making his sketches of Wensleydale.
Turner's Viewpoint
Turner did not draw any specific sketches of the village but he made a particular concentration of sketches at Aysgarth (see the Aysgarth Falls entry). Carperby offers fine views of Wensleydale and is a pleasant stroll from Aysgarth Falls.
Discover The Landscape
The Turner Trails bench is on the roadside verge, almost opposite the village hall at the east end of the village.
